Lydia Ko Begins Intense Training in Pattaya, Leading Global Pros in Honda LPGA Thailand 2026
Siam Country Club Old Course in Pattaya was vibrant from early morning on February 15th. Lydia Ko, a top professional golfer from New Zealand and former world number one, began serious practice in preparation for the Honda LPGA Thailand 2026 tournament from February 19-22. This marks her first return to compete in Thailand since 2023.
Ko commented that starting the tournament week in Asia, specifically Thailand, is wonderful. She noted that Siam Country Club Old Course tests every aspect of the game, including strategy, precision, and endurance, making practice and familiarization crucial.
Her main goal is maintaining consistency, acknowledging the LPGA Tour's intense competition. She expressed excitement about returning to Thailand, appreciating the warm support from local golf fans.
Worldwide top golfers are arriving in Thailand and beginning practice, including Miyu Yamashita, Ayaka Furuya, Yuka Saso, Akiyo Iwai, Celine Boutier, and several others. The tournament features 18 major championship winners with a combined 24 major titles and 173 LPGA titles.
Eight Thai golfers are also preparing intensively, led by Gina-Atthaya Thitikul, the world number one with 7 LPGA titles, and Mei-Aria Jutanugarn, a former world number one with 12 LPGA titles.
The 19th edition of the tournament offers a total prize pool of 1.8 million dollars, supported by Honda Motor Companies across Asia and Thailand.
