Royal Decree Grants First Ecclesiastical Ranks in 2026

His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn has issued a royal decree granting ecclesiastical ranks to three Buddhist monks. Phra Rajavachara Withayakhom from Wat Tha Sabang in Roi Et Province will be elevated to Phra Thep Watchara Withayakhom, with the authority to appoint 5 subordinate monks. Phra Maha Anan Nimumlo will become Phra Rajavachirapanyarangsi, stationed at Wat Kesama in Kalasin Province. A third monk, Phra Khru Wimol Bunkosol from Wat Wimon Niwat in Roi Et, will be granted the rank of Phra Rajakana at the common level. The decree is effective from February 21, 2026, and was announced on February 22, 2026, during the 11th year of the current reign.
