Surprise Deal: Liverpool Secures Signing of Young Defender Jérémie Jacquet
Major media outlets report that Liverpool has reached an agreement to sign Jérémie Jacquet, a rising defensive talent from Rennes, for a total transfer fee of 70 million euros. Liverpool, which has been dealing with multiple defensive injuries, previously showed interest in Lutsharel Kietranda from Sunderland on a loan deal during the winter transfer window, but that deal fell through.
Recently, 'Fabrizio Romano' and 'The Athletic' have both reported that Liverpool has reached an agreement to sign 20-year-old Rennes defender Jérémie Jacquet for 60 million euros, with potential additional bonuses of 10 million euros.
Jacquet has already agreed to a personal contract with the 'Reds' for five years, until 2031, and will undergo medical examinations with his new club. He will remain with Rennes on loan until the end of this season before making an official transfer in the summer of 2026.
Jacquet is considered one of the most promising young defenders, attracting interest not only from Liverpool but also from Chelsea and Manchester United.
