Old Motorcycle Explodes, Causing Massive Fire at Second-Hand Goods Warehouse
At 1:00 PM on February 6, 2024, Police Lieutenant Kittichai Sawangwong from Tha Phra Police Station was notified of a warehouse fire in Moo 6, Tha Phra Nao Village, Tha Phra Subdistrict, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province. The incident involved a second-hand goods warehouse storing electrical appliances and plastics, with fire spreading rapidly due to highly flammable materials and surrounding dry trees. A truck with registration 84-2653 Khon Kaen was completely burned, and the entire building was destroyed. Over 10 fire trucks from 4 subdistricts (Tha Phra, Mueang Kao, Ban Pet, and Don Han) spent over an hour controlling the blaze.
According to the investigation, Phatsakorn (last name withheld), 55, the warehouse owner who suffered burns on both hands and back, reported that the fire originated from an old motorcycle inside the warehouse, with a sound similar to an exploding valve. He managed to rescue only one pickup truck, while other vehicles were completely destroyed. Preliminary estimates suggest damages exceeding 1 million baht.
