On February 17, 2024 - Online footage emerged showing a man using a rifle to shoot during Chinese New Year celebrations, specifically identifying the shooter as a village head in Suphan Buri province. The incident sparked widespread discussion about potential legal violations. Direk Pho-paijit, the district deputy, filed a complaint against the 44-year-old village head known as 'Tee' from Moo 7, Salee Sub-district, Bang Plama District. Provincial Police Commander Watcharin Prasopdi ordered local officers to investigate the incident. Upon inspection, they confirmed the rifle was legally registered and had proper ownership documentation. Officers brought the village head to Bang Plama Police Station and charged him with 'firing a weapon in a village or public gathering without reasonable cause' under Criminal Code Article 376, ultimately issuing a maximum fine of 5,000 baht.
