Hot News on Amulets - Coin of Luang Por La from Wat Pho Si in Sing Buri Province
Sing Buri is an ancient province of Thailand with numerous temples and old Buddhist amulets that are considered valuable heritage and have been popular for generations. Beyond this, there are famous Buddhist masters who have been respected since ancient times until now. One of the old-era masters still spoken about is 'Phra Khru Vinit Sila Khun' or 'Luang Por La Punnachi' of Wat Pho Si in Inburi District. Born as La Phanthusophak in Bang Kapi Village, Inburi District, Sing Buri Province in 1861, he was a quiet child who preferred visiting temples, making merit, and helping others more than playing like typical children. He was ordained at Wat Pho Si during the time of Phra Ajarn Kim as abbot and received the monastic name Punnachi. He was dedicated to studying Buddhist scriptures and meditation, including additional studies from nearby monasteries in Bangkok and Uthai Thani. After wandering and practicing meditation, he eventually became the abbot of Wat Pho Si and later became associated with prominent Buddhist circles. Luang Por La created many sacred objects like medals, talismans, and sacred cloths that became highly collectible, especially his first commemorative medal in 1925. He passed away in 1943 at the age of 82, leaving behind a significant legacy in Thai Buddhist amulet history.
