Prohibited Occupation: Immigration Police Arrest Two Myanmar Women Working as Hairstylists, Shop Owner Also Charged
Nonthaburi Immigration Police, in collaboration with the Provincial Employment Office, arrested two Myanmar women working as hairstylists at a beauty salon. On February 5th, officials from the Immigration Police, led by Police Colonel Phadthongtiu Damaphong and other officers, conducted a raid on a salon on Samakkhi Road in Nonthaburi after receiving a complaint about foreign workers in a prohibited occupation. During the inspection, they found two Myanmar women, aged 24 and 22, working in the salon without work permits and staying in the country after their permitted period had expired. Officers strategically sent an undercover female officer posing as a customer to confirm the violation. Additionally, the 40-year-old shop owner was charged with employing undocumented foreign workers and allowing them to work outside their permitted scope. All individuals were taken to the Nonthaburi Immigration Office for questioning and legal processing, with plans to prosecute and eventually deport the workers. The employer will face legal fines according to the law.
