Thawee Visits Sai Buri, Promoting 'Peace Decree' to Extinguish Southern Conflict and Build 'Halal Metropolis'
The Prachasart Party opened a major rally in Pattani District 4, with Thawee Sodsong championing a 'Peace Decree' to abolish special laws and return justice to local people. Party leaders including Wan Muhamadnor Mata and Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong campaigned for candidate Abdul Kohar AwaePuteh in a densely attended rally ahead of the February 8th election. Thawee emphasized a key policy transition through the 'Peace Decree' as a primary tool for resolving Southern Border Provinces issues, replacing long-standing emergency laws. The key points include transforming security laws into rights-based legislation, creating 'safe zones', and protecting citizens' freedoms. Beyond security, Thawee proposed an economic policy called 'Edible Peace', including increasing elderly benefits to 1,000 baht initially, rising to 3,000 baht within four years. He suggested a 20-year tax-free economic zone for three Southern border provinces and four Songkhla districts, aims to reduce oil prices to 20 baht per liter, and establish a truly interest-free Islamic bank to support global halal industries. 'We hope to draw Thai workers back from Malaysia to develop their hometowns and create new futures,' Thawee stated. He described this election as a '100-year turning point', with the party targeting all 5 Pattani parliamentary seats to create negotiating power for legal reforms.
