Police Reveal Release of Prince Andrew After Arrest for Alleged Misconduct
Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the younger brother of King Charles III of England, was temporarily released pending further investigation after being arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on the morning of Thursday, February 19th local time. Thames Valley Police in the southeast region reported arresting a man around 60 years old in Norfolk, marking the first time Andrew has been arrested, after consistently denying all allegations in recent years. King Charles III stated that the law must take its course and emphasized that the police have his full support and cooperation. Previously, police disclosed they were investigating Andrew in connection with Jeffrey Epstein, the notorious American financier convicted of juvenile sex trafficking who died in prison in 2019, and examining allegations of sharing classified information from recently released U.S. government documents. Officials are also evaluating claims that Epstein sent a woman to the United Kingdom to have sexual relations with Andrew in 2003, when the non-British woman was in her 20s. The BBC understands that Thames Valley Police contacted the Home Ministry to provide advance notification before Andrew's arrest and that the matter was not related to any sexual abuse allegations.
