The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) launched the 'Zero Shadow' operation targeting gunmen and influential networks at 130 locations nationwide ahead of the February 8 elections. Led by Police Lieutenant General Nattasak Chaovanasai and other senior officers, the operation focused on proactively preventing potential election-related violence.
Key operation highlights include:
- 92 total arrests
- 3 weapons trafficking arrests
- 33 arrests related to influential and violent individuals
- Seized 86 firearms and 8,184 ammunition rounds
- Confiscated 6,858,760 baht in cash
Significant cases included solving a village chief murder case, dismantling a kidnapping network, and capturing high-profile suspects on the national police wanted list. The operation targeted organized crime networks in provinces including Trang, Surat Thani, and Krabi.
Police Lieutenant General Nattasak emphasized that the operation sends a clear message that lawless areas will no longer be tolerated, with the massive weapons seizure aimed at preventing potential election-related violence.
