Tragic: 18-Year-Old Abandons Newborn in Gas Station Toilet, Claims Unaware of Delivery
On February 14, 2024, police were alerted to a newborn's body discovered in a women's restroom at a gas station on Tha Kham Road in Bangkok's Bang Khun Thian district. Forensic medical experts examined the scene and found a male infant approximately 9 months old, with complete organs, naked and located inside the toilet bowl. There were significant blood stains around the toilet and floor.
A witness named Naphatsorn, 34, who first discovered the body, reported finding blood in the toilet and initially mistook the infant's limbs for foam before realizing what she had found. She immediately contacted her colleagues and called emergency services.
Medical experts noted the infant was a fair-skinned male, 41 cm long, with an umbilical cord still attached. No signs of physical trauma were found.
Police identified the suspect as Bee (pseudonym), an 18-year-old woman who was later located in Samut Sakhon province. She claimed she experienced abdominal pain, entered the restroom thinking she needed to use the toilet, and was unaware she was giving birth. Shocked and frightened, she reportedly fled the scene.
The suspect was taken to a hospital for further investigation, with authorities awaiting detailed forensic examination of the infant's body.
