Police Arrest Former Convenience Store Manager Behind Mor Lam Stage After Theft Charges

On February 8, 2026, police officers led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Pattanasak Bubphachuwan ordered a team to arrest Mongkol (last name withheld), 34, who was wanted on theft charges from Udon Thani Provincial Court. The suspect was captured behind the stage of a Mor Lam performance at a temple in Tambon Tha Muang, Selaphum District, Roi Et Province. Investigation revealed that between June and July 2023, while working as a convenience store manager in Udon Thani, the suspect stole drinks and cash three times, causing damage over 80,000 baht. After fleeing, he found work with a famous Mor Lam troupe, taking on multiple roles including driver, artist caretaker, and cook. During questioning, Mongkol confessed to the thefts, admitting he committed the crime due to financial pressure, excessive spending, and mounting debt. He was subsequently handed over to Udon Thani police for legal proceedings.
