Police Chase Intensifies: Suspect in Fraud Case Jumps from Train in Midnight Escape
On February 18, 2024, at 1:00 AM, Saharat (last name withheld), a 32-year-old from Sa Kaeo Province, was being transported by police after being arrested on a warrant from Wiang Sa Provincial Court. The suspect was wanted for supporting fraud involving computer system manipulation and misusing electronic accounts. Initially captured on Train 170 (Yala-Bangkok Aphiwat) at Bangkok Aphiwat Station, he was being transferred to Ban Na San Police Station in Surat Thani. However, around 1:00 AM, he seized an opportunity when the officers were momentarily distracted and jumped from the train at Lang Suan Railway Station in Chumphon Province, disappearing into the darkness. At 11:00 AM, Police Colonel Apichat Dokmaithong from Lang Suan Police Station revealed that officers have been checking CCTV footage along possible escape routes, but the suspect remains at large. Preliminary investigations suggest he may have hitchhiked out of the area, and no local residents have reported any leads.
