Thai Golf Association Celebrates Triumphant Year with 10 Major Championships and 4 SEA Games Gold Medals
Rungsarit Laksitanon, President of the Golf Association of Thailand, hosted a success celebration and New Year's gathering to thank athletes, coaches, sponsors, and media at Rama Gardens Hotel. The Thai golf team achieved 10 major championships, including a historic four gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games hosted by Thailand, and is now setting its sights on the Asian Games in Japan later this year.
Laksitanon revealed, "The past year was incredibly successful for our association. We won 10 major championships, particularly at the SEA Games, where our national golf team swept all four gold medals (individual men's and women's, and team men's and women's) - the first time in 10 years since 2015 in Singapore."
The historic gold medal-winning team included individual players "Fifa" Pongsapak Lhaopakedee (men's) and Prim Prachnakorn (women's), along with team members in men's and women's categories.
The association also celebrated emerging talents, particularly Pongsapak Lhaopakedee, who won the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship and earned spots in major tournaments like The Masters and The Open. Prim Prachnakorn received an invitation to the Augusta National Women's Amateur (ANWA) 2026 in the United States.
The 10 major championships were won across various international junior and amateur tournaments in countries including Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam.
Looking ahead, Laksitanon emphasized the upcoming Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan from September 19 to October 4. "We aim to maintain our dominance in Asia, following our previous performance in Hangzhou where we won 2 gold and 1 silver medals. We will prepare intensively to bring success to Thai golf fans," he concluded.
