Pro Phraw Takes Early Lead in Honda LPGA Thailand 2026 First Round
The Honda LPGA Thailand 2026 golf tournament at Siam Country Club Old Course in Chonburi featured 72 world-class LPGA Tour players competing for a total prize of $1.8 million (approximately 60 million baht) on February 19, with eight Thai female golfers participating.
'Pro Phraw' Chenettie Wanasaen delivered an outstanding performance, completing the first round with a 7-under-par 65, scoring 9 birdies on holes 1, 3, 5, 9, 10, 11, 13, 15, and 18, with 2 bogeys on holes 8 and 16. She shares the lead with Nasa Hataoka from Japan, who also made 8 birdies and 1 bogey.
Three players tied for third place with a 6-under-par 66: Choi Hye-jin and Lee So-mi from South Korea, and Gemma Dryburgh from Scotland.
'Pro May' Ariya Jutanugarn, a former world No. 1, finished the first round at 5-under-par 67, tied for sixth place with 'Pro Jino' Atthaya Thitikul, Thailand's world No. 1, and Lydia Ko from New Zealand.
Defending champion Angel Yin from the United States scored 3-under-par 69, placing 26th.
Pro Phraw commented that she played quite well, noting the course conditions were good with less challenging greens due to recent rain. She emphasized playing without pressure and focusing on enjoying her game.
