Lawyer Reveals Long-Standing Warnings About People's Party Candidate Before Court Conviction in Sexual Assault Case
Phattharaphong Wannaphong, a lawyer representing the victim, posted on Facebook about a People's Party MP candidate convicted of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman at Mahasarakham Provincial Court. He stated that he had repeatedly warned the party about the candidate's unsuitability since working with the Move Forward Party in 2023, noting that even though initial court rulings had previously acquitted the candidate, the facts clearly showed problematic behavior. The candidate had admitted to having relations with the victim, a singer under his management, and the victim was even taken out of the country. The Supreme Court ultimately sentenced the candidate to 4 years in prison. The lawyer questioned why the party would select such a candidate as a representative, especially given their previous standards of removing MPs accused of sexual misconduct.
