UK Plans to 'Remove' Prince Andrew from Royal Succession Line - Awaiting Police Investigation Conclusion
On February 22, the BBC reported that the UK government is considering legislation to remove Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the younger brother of King Charles III, from the royal succession line. This comes shortly after his arrest on February 19 on suspicion of misconduct in public office, after which he was released while police continue their investigation. Defense Minister Luke Pollard stated that the action, which would prevent Andrew from becoming king, is 'the right thing to do' without waiting for the police investigation results. Andrew currently remains eighth in the line of succession, despite being stripped of his 'Prince' title in October 2022 amid pressures related to his connections with Jeffrey Epstein, the notorious American financier convicted of underage sex trafficking who died in prison in 2019.
