Symbolic Mock Referendum Begins to Remove Election Commission at Pathumwan Skywalk

The mock referendum activity began at the Pathumwan Skywalk intersection in Bangkok, organized by the Thammasat and Demonstration Group, led by key leader Theeraphat Suppaphitakpaiboon. The group prepared for a symbolic protest activity involving a mock referendum to remove the Election Commission, starting at 5:00 PM. The protesters brought various equipment including speakers, podiums, voting booths, tables, pens, mock ballots, ballot boxes, and vote-counting baskets. The mock referendum ballots were designed to resemble official Election Commission ballots, with the key question: 'Do you approve of removing the Election Commission from their positions?' Approximately 50 police officers from Pathumwan Police Station, including female units, EOD teams, and K-9 units, were deployed to maintain security and monitor the area. The mock referendum was open to the public from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with vote counting and a declaration of demands scheduled for 8:00 PM, with the event expected to conclude before 9:00 PM. Student representatives from various universities participated, with over 500 ballots prepared. The organizers emphasized the transparency and credibility of the mock referendum, stating there were no QR codes tracking votes.
