Massive Bust: Authorities Seize Over 2,000 Fake Car Parts Worth 3 Million Baht
Police from the Intellectual Property Department conducted a raid on two warehouses in the Bang Khun Thian area of Bangkok, seizing over 2,179 counterfeit car parts worth approximately 3 million baht. The operation targeted a large-scale fake auto parts operation, discovering printing equipment used to create counterfeit packaging and fake parts from brands including Toyota, DENSO, Ford, and Isuzu. A 57-year-old site manager was arrested and charged with trademark infringement.
The fake parts, including air filters, wheel bearings, shock absorbers, and oil filters, pose serious safety risks. Counterfeit components can cause reduced engine performance, increased fuel consumption, accelerated engine wear, and potentially dangerous driving conditions. Authorities warned consumers to purchase parts only from reliable sources and carefully check packaging and trademarks.
