Food Poisoning: Over 100 Students Hospitalized After School Lunch in Phatthalung
At 2:10 PM on February 13, rescue workers from Phatthalung Hospital rushed to help 4th and 5th-grade students at Kuha Sawang Municipal School after a mass outbreak of symptoms following lunch. Over 100 students initially showed symptoms of vomiting, stomach pain, and chest tightness. Public health officials and hospital staff immediately screened and provided initial treatment, sending approximately 10 students with severe symptoms to the hospital. Deputy Governor Sorn-arong Songsomphan closely monitored the situation and confirmed that all students are now safe. Officials collected food, water, and cafeteria equipment samples for further investigation to determine the exact cause of the food poisoning. School director Seksakdi Kawinphrutti reported that symptoms began around 1 PM, affecting about 100 out of 2,000 students. Public health officials preliminarily suspect food poisoning based on the timing of symptoms.
