Ratchaburi Fan Recounts Dramatic Escape from VIP Room During AFC Champions League Match
A Ratchaburi fan shared a dramatic account of their experience at the AFC Champions League match on February 18, where Persib Bandung defeated Ratchaburi 1-0 but was eliminated from the tournament. Despite sitting in the VIP section, the fan was surrounded by hostile home fans and had to be escorted to safety by players and security.
The fan, known as 'Lawyer Joe' Tasanai Laopoonpitaya, described the escalating tension as Persib Bandung fans began throwing water bottles and firecrackers. Military and police personnel advised him to change clothes and move to a more secure area. Player number 7 of Persib (Beckham Putra Nugraha) eventually helped guide the Ratchaburi fans to safety in the players' changing room.
Despite the harrowing experience, Lawyer Joe reflected philosophically, saying it was a colorful moment of football fandom and hoping for better crowd control in future matches. He emphasized the unpredictability of the situation and was grateful to have escaped unharmed.
