Treenuch Directs Social Security to Expedite Unemployment Compensation, Urges IT System Improvements

On February 17, 2026, Treenuch Thientong, Minister of Labor, revealed instructions to the Social Security Office (SSO) to urgently process unemployment compensation payments. She directed all provinces to mobilize staff and extend working hours from 6:00 AM to 8:30 PM to expedite review and approval of payment orders. From January 5 to February 12, 2026, the SSO has already paid compensation to 337,594 individuals, transferring over 940.17 million baht to insured persons' accounts. Additionally, she urged the SSO to quickly resolve all IT system issues to facilitate and alleviate insured persons' difficulties. The SSO Secretary reported they can now process over 35,000 claims per day. Insured persons can register through the Department of Employment's website (e-Service) and check their unemployment compensation status via the SSO Plus app or electronic self-service system 24/7.
