Chinese Fraudster Caught: Billion-Baht Scammer Cornered in Luxury Sai Mai Home, Immigration Police Revoke Visa
On February 13, Immigration Police spokesperson Pol. Maj. Gen. Choengron Rimpadee reported that a police team led by Pol. Lt. Col. Thawatchai Narinrat executed a court warrant to search a luxury home in Sai Mai, Bangkok, suspecting a foreign national wanted by a foreign government was hiding in Thailand. They successfully detained Jing Wei, 43, who was wanted by the Shangcheng Public Security Ministry for fraud on January 12. The suspect was involved in illegal online fundraising activities through a private loan platform, affecting over 15,000 investors with unpaid compensation claims totaling 23 billion yuan (11,500 million baht). Pol. Maj. Gen. Panop Worathanatchakul ordered the visa revocation and arranged for the suspect to be held pending deportation to China, continuing efforts to prevent Thailand from becoming a haven for illegal foreign criminals.
