Sawaeng Clarifies Removal of 28 MP Candidates, Assures No Election Impact
On February 4, 2024, Sawaeng Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission (EC), discussed the EC's decision to submit 28 MP candidates to the Supreme Court for removal due to voter registration violations. The candidates were proposed for removal because they are currently under rights restrictions, requiring time for verification and fair process. All these candidates are from party lists across multiple parties. If the court does not decide by February 8, it will not impact the election like constituency-based candidates, as party list candidates can be easily replaced.
