Motorcycle Gunmen Raid Villages in Nigeria, Kill Over 30 People
According to a BBC report on February 15, motorcycle-riding gunmen attacked three villages in Niger State, western Nigeria, on Saturday morning, February 14, local time. At least 32 villagers were killed, with some media sources reporting up to 46 deaths. The attackers used 41 motorcycles, with 2-3 perpetrators per vehicle. Officials reported that the gunmen shot or slit victims' throats, then set houses on fire and kidnapped several villagers. The attack occurred near an area where armed Muslim extremists had previously conducted a mass killing of over 100 people earlier in the month. The gunmen first attacked the Tunga-Makeri village in the early morning, killing at least 6 residents. They then moved to the nearby Konkoso village, where almost all houses were burned down, dozens were killed, and 4 women were abducted. After attacking Konkoso, the motorcycle gunmen proceeded to Pissa village, where they burned down a police station and killed at least one more victim.
