Taste of Banthatthong: Chinese New Year 2026 Invites Visitors to Explore New Flavors
Banthatthong is coming alive again during Chinese New Year 2026 with the 'Banthatthong Chinese New Year 2026' event, themed 'Taste of Banthatthong'. The festival invites everyone to explore Banthatthong's flavors beyond the familiar, featuring not just trendy social media restaurants but also legendary local establishments that have been part of the neighborhood for years. For many, Banthatthong is known as a street food destination packed with famous restaurants. But for regulars, it's an evening gathering space - a place to eat, walk, meet friends, do activities, and spend time together after work or school. This year's Chinese New Year event aims to showcase the neighborhood's true identity. The event is organized by PMCU (Chulalongkorn University Property Management Office) together with local tenants and creative teams from The Market, a well-known vintage market organizer. This is the first 'Banthatthong Festival' after more than 20 previous neighborhood events. Key highlights include creating new landmarks across Banthatthong to transform it into an exploration space, featuring popular check-in spots like 'Numnao' and 'Tangyoo', which will host DJ booths and add musical energy to the neighborhood. Visitors can also enjoy dragon lanterns in Chula Soi 18, near the ancient Peng Tao Kong shrine, alongside traditional and new restaurants. The event includes a lucky bead collection activity where participants can receive cash red envelopes by checking in at various locations. The festival aims to present Banthatthong from a fresh perspective, inviting people to discover hidden stories and flavors in its small alleys. A traditional lion and dragon parade will add a unique touch not seen anywhere else in Bangkok. Mark your calendars for Banthatthong Chinese New Year 2026 from February 17-22 in central Bangkok - a neighborhood where flavors and stories walk hand in hand.
