Chuwong Chayachinda, National Artist in Literature and 'Dream Novel Queen', Passes Away at 96
Chuwong Chayachinda, a national artist in literature and 'Dream Novel Queen' known for numerous famous works, has passed away at age 96. On February 18, 2024, she died peacefully at 4:27 PM local time in Melbourne, Australia. Wat Dhammarangsee in Melbourne announced her sad passing and scheduled a three-day funeral service from February 19-21 at 6:00 PM.
Chuwong was born on December 25, 1930, as the youngest of five children of Phra Chan Bannakij (Thavil Chayachinda), a former deputy director-general of the Central Accounting Department, and Mrs. Chuang.
She began writing novels around age 30, supported by Mom Luang Chitti Nopawong, the editor of 'Sri Sapda' magazine. Her popular works include 'Chamlae Rak', 'Sud Sai Pan', and nearly 70 novels. She was widely known as the 'Dream Novel Queen' and stopped writing in 1978 after moving to Melbourne, Australia.
