Chatchat Unlocks Parking Spaces Under Lan Kon Mueang, Boosting Tourism Economy
On February 6, Bangkok Governor Chatchat Sittiphan, accompanied by Deputy Governor Visanu Sapsopon, visited the parking area under Lan Kon Mueang at Bangkok City Hall (Saochingcha) in Phra Nakhon district, which officially opened to the public on February 1. Chatchat explained that the parking area has two underground levels with space for approximately 500 vehicles. Previously focused on government and official use, the parking lot was empty on nights and weekends. This area is a tourism hotspot, including attractions like Wat Suthat, Saochingcha, and the Shrine of the City Pillar. Parking hours are Monday-Friday from 6 PM to 6 AM the next day, and 24 hours on weekends and holidays. Rates include 15 minutes free parking, 20 baht per hour up to 5 hours, and 30 baht per hour after the 6th hour. Monthly parking is available for 2,000 baht, and motorcycles can park for free. The governor emphasized the parking area's safety, cleanliness, and potential to stimulate the local economy by making it easier for tourists to visit nearby attractions.
