Election Commission Investigates Wife of Campaign Driver Amid Vote-Buying Rumors
On February 2nd, Election Commission officials from Kamphaeng Phet province investigated a home in Tambon Ang Thong, visiting Chanthana Sopha, 52, who was accused of voter registration fraud. Chanthana denied all allegations, stating she was merely hired to drive a campaign vehicle for candidate Parin Thaveekitsiraphong of the People's Party for just two days (January 28-29). Her husband was hired to put up campaign posters and drive a campaign vehicle, which was subsequently canceled by the candidate after the rumors spread. Chanthana emphasized she was only doing temporary advertising work and was not involved in any vote-buying scheme. The Election Commission director noted the election was intense, with high voter participation, and urged all candidates to compete fairly within legal boundaries.
