Forest Fire Near Nam Nao Extinguished After 8 Hours, Covering 120 Rai of Damage
On February 17, 2024, Somkiat Katip, head of the Nam Nao Forest Fire Control Station, reported that at 1:47 AM on February 16, 2024, four hotspots were detected in the Phu Kong Kwian forest area in Kok Mon Subdistrict, Nam Nao District, Phetchabun Province. A total of 36 personnel, including forest officials, national park rangers, and volunteer networks, were mobilized to combat the fire. The firefighting efforts began at 9:00 AM and successfully extinguished the blaze by 4:40 PM, with damage primarily affecting dry dipterocarp forest. The suspected cause is villagers setting fires to forage for forest products. After controlling the fire, local volunteer networks were assigned to monitor and create fire prevention barriers in the surrounding areas.
