Anti-Drug Police Arrest Mongolian Gang Hiding Crystal Meth in Capacitors for International Shipment
On February 3, 2024, Police Lieutenant General Archon Kraitong continued pursuing international drug networks by capturing a 46-year-old Mongolian man attempting to ship 150 grams of crystal meth hidden in capacitors to his home country. Additional investigation revealed another 244 grams of drugs concealed in electrical transformers with intricate hiding methods.
The suspect frequently changed accommodations every 2-4 days to avoid detection and used other people's passports to conceal his identity. Police investigated a suspicious package on January 21 at a shipping company near New Phetchaburi Road, discovering the initial drug shipment.
Police tactical units tracked the suspect to a hotel in Sukhumvit 36, successfully arresting him and two other Mongolian nationals. During the room search, they found additional crystal meth hidden in circuit board capacitors and electrical transformers, designed to avoid detection. The operation aims to dismantle the international drug trafficking network operating through Thailand.
