Deputy Defence Minister Visits Border Areas in Surin Province
Deputy Defence Minister Lt. Gen. Adul Boonthamcharoen conducted a field visit to border areas in Phanom Dong Rak district, Surin, on February 5th to review the Defence Ministry's infrastructure development project for military personnel. The visit focused on the 'Water Flowing, Lights On, Good Roads, Mobile Signal' initiative, which aims to improve basic infrastructure and communications along the Thai-Cambodian border. Accompanied by AIS executives, Lt. Gen. Adul distributed SIM cards to soldiers of the Suranaree Task Force to enhance operational communication and coordination. The delegation also visited local temples and strategic border points, meeting with residents affected by recent border tensions. Lt. Gen. Adul emphasized that the project was assigned by the Prime Minister and Defence Minister to improve troops' living conditions and operational capabilities. Regarding civilian compensation for those impacted by recent incidents, he noted that while the Prime Minister had instructed a second round of assistance, the process might be delayed due to the caretaker government status. Compensation for evacuees has already been fully paid, with further aid to be processed after a new government is formed.
