Myanmar Man Drives Pickup Truck into Motorcyclists Waiting at Red Light, Causing Multiple Injuries

A Myanmar national driving a pickup truck crashed into motorcycles waiting at a red light in central Phuket, seriously injuring one person. The Phuket Times page shared a video of local residents confronting the driver after he appeared to be driving while intoxicated and caused damage to 5-6 vehicles on Chao Fa West Road in Chalong Subdistrict on February 19, 2024, around 7:00 PM. The driver reportedly came from Na Yai Alley, swerved near a TOT building, and crashed into motorcycles waiting at the traffic signal. Some people managed to jump out of the way, while the motorcycle rider was dragged along the road. The incident went viral online, with netizens criticizing the reckless driving and calling for stricter law enforcement, especially regarding foreign nationals. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
