2-Hour Dramatic Siege: Car Accessories Shop Owner Goes on Shooting Rampage
At 2:30 AM on February 21, 2024, police received an urgent call about a man running amok and firing multiple gunshots inside a car accessories shop in the Tha Raeng area of Bang Khen district, Bangkok. Over 100 police officers from various units, including Special Operations SWAT teams, rushed to the scene. Police blocked traffic around Ramindra Soi 28-30 and spent more than two hours attempting to negotiate with the suspect, Weerabhat (last name withheld), aged 51, who was the shop owner. After negotiations, the suspect eventually surrendered. Upon questioning, he claimed he was intoxicated and stressed, which led to his shooting spree. Police seized two blank firing revolvers and several rounds of ammunition, and took the suspect into custody for further investigation.
