Warning: Job Seeker Tricked via Facebook, Kidnapped and Taken Across Cambodian Border
A Facebook user posted a warning on February 15, 2024, about a job seeker who was tricked after applying for an 'online customer service admin' position. The victim was told to attend training in Bangkok and would receive a laptop for remote work. After reaching Morchit, they were directed to a van to continue training in Sa Kaeo. The perpetrators seized the victim's phone and ID card, preventing communication. Upon arrival in Sa Kaeo, the victim was blindfolded, tied up, and forced to cross into Cambodia, where they were held in a room with 4 other victims. The scammers forced the victims to scan their faces to withdraw money from bank accounts. After accounts were frozen, the criminals discarded the victims in another part of the building, telling them to find their way back to Thailand. The warning emphasizes the severe risks of such scams and urges people to protect their loved ones from similar traps.
