Urgent Action! Forest Fire Combat Teams and Helicopters Mobilized to Halt Wildfires in Kanchanaburi
On February 16, 2026, forest fire situations in Kanchanaburi province are intensifying with widespread heat spots. Minister Suchat Chomklin has urgently ordered the Department of National Parks to mobilize all resources and deploy helicopters to protect inner conservation forest areas.
Department Director Auttapon Charoenchansa revealed that forest fire situations are escalating in Forest Zone 12 (around Sri Nakharin Dam), prompting the deployment of special firefighting 'Fire Tiger' units from Chumphon and Nakhon Si Thammarat to immediately support critical fire prevention efforts.
Heat spots have been detected in multiple sensitive border areas, including near Sri Nakharin National Park, Trai Yok National Park, and border zones adjacent to Myanmar. The firefighting teams are focusing on containing the fires and preventing their spread, with a primary goal of protecting forest resources and minimizing impact on local populations.
