3 Teenage Youths Steal Boats, Damage First Boat and Return It Before Stealing Another
Three teenage youths drove a pickup truck to steal boats from the Ban Rai community in Lamphun province. The first boat, a plastic flat-bottom vessel, was damaged during the theft and returned to its original location before stealing another boat. Security camera footage showed the black pickup truck fleeing through several villages. Village head Sakda Laeng-Umong reported that the youths, aged 17 and 14, were caught after the community posted an announcement. They claimed they stole the boat to go fishing at the Ban Thi reservoir, unaware of the consequences. When they saw the community's announcement and video, they became afraid and returned the boat. The parents of the youths agreed to buy a replacement for the damaged boat, and police took the three teenagers into custody for further processing.
