Border Patrol Intercepts Drug Smuggling Gang, Seizes 100 Kilograms of Crystal Meth Valued at 14 Million Baht

On February 3rd, at the Mekong River Patrol Unit in Nong Khai, officials from various agencies including local government, police, military, and border patrol conducted a joint press conference about a drug seizure. On February 1st around 5:00 PM, naval station chief Ariya Thongmun received intelligence about potential drug smuggling in Hin Ngom subdistrict, Mueang district, Nong Khai province. Around 7:00 PM, patrol officers spotted a boat arriving from a neighboring country and docking at the Mekong River near Ban Hin Ngom. Several men began unloading suspicious packages. When border patrol officers approached, the suspects quickly abandoned their cargo and escaped under cover of darkness. Upon inspection, officers discovered 100 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, which was seized and subsequently handed over to local police for further legal processing.
