Gunshot Echoes: Son Shocked to Find Father Dead at Home Entrance
A loud gunshot rang out, shocking the son who rushed to investigate and found his father's body lying dead at the home's entrance. At 1:20 PM on February 16, 2026, Lieutenant Sorakrit Ruangprim from Phetchaburi Police Station was notified of a death inside a residence in Mueang District, Phetchaburi Province.
Police officers, including Police Captain Chokchai Nielson, medical staff from Phrachomklao Hospital, forensic police, and a local foundation arrived at the scene. They found the body of 85-year-old former military officer P.M. Sopon (last name withheld), unclothed and wearing a traditional Thai sarong, shot and lying in a pool of blood near the home's entrance. No signs of struggle were detected.
Police secured the crime scene to preserve evidence and await forensic investigation. Initial investigation revealed the victim had been experiencing health issues and frequently complained to his son. Before the incident, the victim was sitting alone in the lower floor living area. His son was upstairs when a single gunshot was heard. Upon rushing downstairs, the son discovered his father had taken his own life.
