18-Year-Old Suspect Arrested After School Shooting, Sent for Psychiatric Evaluation

Police from Thung Lung Police Station in Songkhla arrested an 18-year-old suspect for a shooting incident at Patong Pradorn Khiri Wattana School that resulted in the school director's death and one female student's injury. Prior to the school shooting, police from Hat Yai received reports of a man with mental health issues attacking family members. During an attempt to control the suspect, he was found holding a long knife and aggressive. The suspect managed to grab a firearm from a police patrol vehicle and fled to the school. Police Commissioner Major General Piyawat Chalermsi has ordered an investigation into how the suspect obtained the weapon. The suspect now faces three initial charges: intentional murder, attempted murder, and weapons violations.
