Police are waiting for medical evaluation to assess the mental state of an 18-year-old who seized a police weapon and invaded Phatong Prathankhiriwat School in Hat Yai, Songkhla Province. The suspect, named Khem, took teachers and students hostage, and when school director Sasiphat Sinsamosorn attempted to negotiate and offer herself as a replacement hostage, she was shot and later died at the hospital. Two students were also injured. Deputy Police Commissioner Achan Chansiri stated that the next step is to have medical professionals evaluate the suspect's mental state, which will determine further legal proceedings.
