Residents Protest Motorcycle Repair Shop Operating Without Proper Health Safety Permit
Sai Mai Police Station, in collaboration with the Rapid Response Team from Metropolitan Police Region 2, arrested a motorcycle repair shop operating without a health safety permit and causing disruption to local residents. At approximately 1:45 AM on February 14, 2024, a police team led by senior officers conducted a raid on the shop located on Sai Mai Road, Soi 7, in the Sai Mai district of Bangkok. The shop was known for attracting young motorcycle enthusiasts who would modify engines and vehicle equipment late at night, creating significant noise and disturbance for nearby residents. During the operation, police found Thanawat (last name withheld), the shop owner, with several youths modifying motorcycles. When questioned, Thanawat admitted he did not have the required health safety permit, claiming he was still in the process of obtaining approval from the Sai Mai District Office. The police arrested him and filed charges under Section 33 of the Public Health Act of 1992 and Bangkok Metropolitan Regulations on Hazardous Health Activities of 2018. He was taken to Sai Mai Police Station for further legal proceedings.
