CIMB Thai Forecasts Thailand's Economic Recovery in Second Half of 2025, Hopes New Government Will Boost GDP to 3%
On February 23, 2025, Amornthep Chavala, Assistant Senior Executive of Research at CIMB Thai Bank, revealed that Thailand's economic conditions are expected to show clear recovery signals in the second half of 2025 when the new government can fully form its administrative team and advance policies. The bank anticipates the new government will implement measures to reduce living costs, support employment, ease regulations for SMEs, and provide targeted tax benefits to increase household purchasing power. CIMB Thai has adjusted its GDP growth projection for 2025 to 2.1% from the previous 1.6%, with hopes of reaching 3% growth dependent on the new government's policy efficiency. The bank also cautioned about potential complications from US tax policies, which could impact exports, investments, and the Thai baht exchange rate.
