Police have issued an arrest warrant for a suspect who shot his rival at an entertainment venue on Khaosan Road, resulting in 2 injuries due to a personal conflict. The incident occurred in the early morning of January 31, 2024, at an entertainment venue. Two victims were injured: Suriyan Kaewphan, 46, a shop employee, was shot in the right shin, and Sirisak Chumburus, 40, a tourist, was shot in the left leg. Both were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition. The suspect has been identified as Pradit Paengkanya, 49. Police have seized a .38 caliber gun used in the shooting, which contained one bullet in the chamber and five additional rounds in the magazine. Six 9mm shell casings and other evidence were found at the scene. Local business owners expressed concern about the shooting, noting it was the first gun-related incident in the area. They worry about the potential negative impact on tourism, as Khaosan Road is a popular tourist destination with many foreign visitors at night. Police Commander Niphon Nithikarunlert from Chana Songkhram Police Station confirmed that investigation teams have identified the suspect and are preparing to obtain an arrest warrant. The incident reportedly occurred when the two parties were supposed to meet to resolve a previous conflict, but shooting broke out before any discussion could take place. The police are continuing their investigation and working to apprehend the suspect according to legal procedures.
