Marine Department and NSTDA Highlight Innovation for Coastal Resource Restoration
The Marine Department has joined forces with NSTDA to enhance coastal resource management and restoration capabilities in Thailand, responding to climate change and stopping ecosystem degradation. On February 17th, Dr. Pin-sak Surasawadee, Director-General of the Marine and Coastal Resources Department, and Prof. Dr. Chookiat Limphichop, Director of the National Science and Technology Development Agency, signed a collaborative agreement on research, development, and academic work related to mangrove forests and marine and coastal ecosystems. Prof. Dr. Chookiat emphasized that this collaboration will bring modern science, technology, and innovation to efficiently conserve, restore, and manage mangrove forests and marine ecosystems, aligning with global biodiversity frameworks. The partnership focuses on stopping ecosystem degradation, restoring deteriorated areas, and integrating biodiversity into policy decisions, in line with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Climate Action and Life Below Water.
