Mass Counterfeit Goods Sweep: Over 10,000 Items Seized, 15 Suspects Arrested
On February 3rd, Police Major General Tassanaphum Charupprat ordered a proactive operation to investigate and suppress intellectual property violations across multiple regions of Thailand. The operation covered 5 northern provinces (Phitsanulok, Uttaradit, Nan, Phayao, and Chiang Mai), 5 eastern provinces (Chonburi, Chanthaburi, Sa Kaeo, Nakhon Nayok, and Trat), and 2 northeastern provinces (Roi Et and Nakhon Ratchasima).
Investigators seized over 10,000 counterfeit items including agricultural equipment, automotive parts, perfumes, clothing, socks, bags, and branded shoes, with damages estimated in the millions. Fifteen suspects were arrested and charged with possessing and selling counterfeit trademark goods.
The operation targeted key locations like warehouses, commercial buildings, wholesale markets, and both physical and online stores. All seized items were found to be substandard and bearing fake trademarks, and suspects will be prosecuted according to law.
