Police Arrest 2 Drug Suspects - Thai and Foreign Nationals Selling Drugs on Koh Phangan via Facebook
Surat Thani Provincial Police Special Investigation Unit arrested two drug suspects on February 14, 2024. The first suspect, Kamphol Chantarin, 26, a resort employee, was caught with 21.94 grams of ketamine, digital scales, and other drug-related equipment. He admitted to selling ketamine to both Thai and foreign tourists via Facebook at 800 baht per gram. The second suspect, Myo Aung, a 32-year-old Myanmar national, was arrested with 40 methamphetamine pills and 10,000 baht in cash. Myo Aung attempted to flee but was captured and confessed to selling drugs to fellow Myanmar workers. Police Lieutenant Charoenchai stated that this operation was part of a broader effort to suppress drug distribution in tourist areas and prevent drug spread between foreign and Thai nationals.
