On January 30, 2024, Thaworn Suksumran, the Prison Commander of Mae Hong Son, received a report from prison officials including Watcharet Khampin, Director of Prisoner Control, Khonaphot Buaruen, Head of Control and Security, and Veraphan Suwanakhot, Head of the Detention Center. According to the report, Thida Manutpattana, a prison assistant working at the detention facility, conducted a search of belongings brought by a relative for a female detainee. The search revealed 4 methamphetamine pills. Prison officials immediately coordinated with Mae Hong Son local police to arrest and prosecute the relative who attempted to smuggle drugs into the prison. The operation was carried out smoothly.
