Only Ruins Remain: Fire Destroys Worker Camp, Killing Puppy and Cockfighting Rooster
A fierce fire burned down an abandoned worker camp, resulting in the death of one puppy and one cockfighting rooster. At 3:00 PM on February 2, 2024, Police Lieutenant Jakkrin Najai Kaew from Khukot Police Station was notified of the fire at a construction worker camp in Lat Sawai Subdistrict, Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani Province. Fire trucks from the Lat Sawai Municipal Office, along with police and rescue foundation staff, responded to the scene. Firefighters battled the blaze for 30 minutes before bringing it under control. No human injuries were reported.
Mr. Dee, 53, a worker from a nearby warehouse, reported hearing explosions and seeing fire suddenly erupt at the abandoned camp, which previously housed Cambodian workers who had left during previous conflicts. Another worker, Thananchai, stated he was watching cockfighting roosters and was sleeping in a hammock when the fire suddenly spread quickly, causing him to flee. Some roosters managed to escape, while others perished along with the puppy.
Police officers documented the scene and will investigate the exact cause of the fire.
