Villagers Alarmed as Rumors of Tiger Sightings Spread, Wildlife Preserve Chief Sets Traps with Bait Chicken
The head of Kha Pra-Bang Kram Wildlife Preserve led officials to survey the area on February 13, 2024, after villagers reported seeing an unidentified tiger walking in the border forest zone near Ban Ao Tong in Trang and Ban Phaen Din Samoe in Khlong Thom, Krabi. This has caused fear among local residents living near the wildlife preserve. Kasem Santi, the preserve chief, revealed that they found tiger footprints resembling those of a leopard or possibly a fire tiger. The tiger species that villagers had been rumoring about has not been seen in the area for many years. While locals have been talking about a tiger walking in this forest for 2-3 days, officials suspect it might be another type of tiger that escaped from a cage, potentially a fire tiger or leopard. The officials warn that these tigers are larger than dogs and have aggressive temperaments. They advise villagers to immediately contact authorities if they encounter the animal.
